In Print: Joey Stefano, Madonna and ‘Sex’

[Edits 5:45 p.m.] In Print: It’s mildly alarming that Sex from Madonna was released almost 20 years ago. I had only been living in Hollywood a few months when the photobook was released in October 1992. I made my way to the B. Dalton’s near the corner of Hollywood and Highland to maybe pick up a copy, but it was too rich for my blood. And the only two copies they had left were on reserve. Anyway, we’ve been talking about Joey Stefano popping up in the zeitgeist lately; he was one of the celebrity cameos in Sex, hand-picked by Madonna for a slap-and-tickle photo shoot at the Gaiety in New York. Here are some very nice scans of his work; he appears in the background two or three more times. (Not only is Mr. Stefano gone now, of course, but so is that B. Dalton’s; it’s now a Starbucks. I probably shouldn’t be contemplating the rush of time this early on a Monday). That’s actor Udo Kier in the photo at left. See the links below for our recent Stefano stories. Sneak Peek: Director-mogul Blue Blake sent around some preliminary promo art for A POLICEMAN FUCKED MY SON, his return to sexpics after a hiatus of several years. The blue movie—yoinks—is produced by Eurocreme and should be available for DVD shortly, if it isn’t already. It’s up for D2O (download-to-own) now. The cast includes real-life lovers Ben Brown and Bruno Knight (pictured) with Brick Jones, Randy Jones, Marky DeMarco and others. Mr. Blake, of course, was smack in the middle of the recent riots in London, and he happened to be vacationing in Egypt earlier this year when their revolution exploded (“I moved from one bloody war zone to another,” he told me.) Anyway, he has taken a new lover who may star in his next film, a Polish construction worker he stumbled across at the gym and with whom Blake fell into a torrid affair. That happens to him a lot. Press Release Roundup: Falcon Studios is revamping its Jocks Studios subsidiary line, which has traditionally focused on younger, sporty guys. Towards that end, we’ve got BOLD MOVES on tap starring newly signed exclusive Andrew Jakk, whom we wrote about the other day (see the link below). The smooth, blond and nicely hung Mr. Jakk has no piercings or tattoos, which I think is against the rules. In any case, it’s also the solo directorial debut of Bruno Bond, who is usually teamed with Steve Cruz. Costars include stablemate Landon Conrad with Christopher Daniels, Blake Daniels (the Daniels aren’t related, I think), Colby Keller, Adrian Long and JR Matthews. “Watching guys go at it in person is enough to turn anyone on. My goal was to tap into the energy created from the sexual spying to inspire another level of stimulation and provide one hot, bold encounter after another,” said Mr. Bond. Jake Cruise to Revamp into ‘Smaller, Leaner’ Studio

My colleagues over at The Sword posted a story the other day (CLICK HERE) about Jake Cruise Media possibly closing up shop. I recently profiled Jake Cruise himself for Germany’s Manner magazine and nothing like that came up during our conversations, so I called around. That prompted a statement that was sent around the biz today:
“I want to thank everyone for showing so much concern. I never thought that this would become such a big deal. It’s never been a secret. First let me state that my company, Jake Cruise Media, is not going out of business. Far from it. And I, Jake Cruise, am not retiring. Over the past 10 years the adult industry has changed tremendously. We have taken a long, hard look at the internet of today and how society watches adult entertainment. Jake Cruise Media is re-organizing into a smaller, leaner company that will be able to adapt to this ever-changing digital world. We are confident that we will thrive under our new business model. We have very exciting things planned but I simply cannot talk about them at this time. Personally, I’m looking forward to our new future.”

Legal Battle Between Miami, Flava Works Continues

A long-running legal battle between Atlanta-based Flava Works and the city of Miami will go at least one more round. The company plans to appeal a summary judgment granted to the city last month over zoning issues related to webcam site CocoDorm. “While defending our case the city of Miami changed the rules of the game by amending their zoning ordinance,” Flava Works CEO Phillip Bleicher told XBIZ. “We were perfectly in compliance and we will file an appeal over this unjust bigotry.” An earlier court ruling found that properties that broadcast sex on the internet are not technically adult businesses; the city of Miami appealed that decision and won. Another court found that since Flava Works was selling content generated from the CocoDorm site that the property itself could be considered an adult business. Further, the judge ruled that Miami has “a legitimate interest in separating business activities from residential areas for the health and safety of its citizens and that federal courts don’t sit as zoning boards of review.” See the links below for background—the drama began four years ago this week—and CLICK HERE for the XBIZ story.

New Release Desk: Treasure Island Media is beating the bushes for DAWSON’S 50 LOAD WEEKEND: THE COLLECTION, a compilation DVD that combines the 2005 and ’06 installments of singly named Dawson‘s spectacularly filthy sexcapades. “The infamous and wildly popular film features incomparable uber-bottom Dawson taking 50 loads from over 30 relentless tops,” reads the promo hype. Barrett Long Launching Skin Biz Comeback?

Press Release Roundup: It looks like none other than Barrett Long may be getting back into the game. A press release has gone out to the biz announcing the launch of ElevenBySeven.com—so named for obvious reasons—which is billed as a social networking site as well as “an eclectic mix of amateur porn, voyeurism and all kinds of sex. It’s a porn site. It’s a reality show. It’s a fan page. It’s everything all rolled into one,” reads the promo hype. “Candid and real, it gives the viewers a firsthand glimpse into the exciting and erotic life of one of the biggest porn stars.” An ebook, Barrett Long: Magnum XL, is also on the boards. The press release notes Mr. Long will also be filming for other studios. It’s not clear if the same people behind this new venture also backed several pro/am ventures involving Mr. Long from 2007-09. Dirty Bird Pictures released some 30 installments of his pro/am compilation series during that period (see the links below for background). AHF Petition Drive to Mandate Condoms: FSC Responds

I wrote yesterday about the ongoing campaign by Michael Weinstein, president of AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), to bring about legislation requiring the use of condoms in all porn production. A lawsuit and other attempts at legal solutions have recently been rebuffed by the courts. Yesterday, Mr. Weinstein told the Los Angeles Times (scroll down or see the link below) he plans to gather enough signatures by a December deadline to put the issue to voters in June 2012. The Times also interviewed several male performers who are HIV positive and have joined AHF in this ongoing battle against adult film production; no one from the industry was cited to offer an opposing point of view or to provide context and background. A press conference was also scheduled by AHF for today. Today adult industry trade organization Free Speech Coalition (FSC) has issued a response. CLICK HERE for their statements…
