COLT-Karim-jeans-smileCOLT-Classic-Karim-Brian-CerfDirector John Rutherford passed along the unhappy news this afternoon that classic COLT Man Karim has died. Celebrated for his rugged good looks and massive frame, the singly named Karim, 52, whose real name was Christian Bouthillette, apparently passed Monday morning at his apartment in Wilton Manors, Florida. The cause of death is pending, but an account on the Florida Agenda website cites a “massive heart attack” as a possibility, among other reasons. On the COLT blog, Karim was memorialized as “one of our most cherished COLT Men from the COLT history books.” He is pictured, above right, with real-life boyfriend Brian Cerf. CLICK HERE for the blog post. Karim was a lifelong muscle and fitness aficionado, and won several titles, including a 1995 Canada Cup and several 1st place prizes from the National Physique Committee (NPC) in 1998 and ’04. In 1998, he also began working as a personal trainer. My condolences to his partner and family, friends and fans.

John Bruno and then a “classic” model, Karim? Please, don’t let 2013 become like last year. RIP Karim.

How awful for his family. Hopefully Rutherford does not insult his memory by putting his merchandise on sale.

OMG, I remember Christian when he was a bartender in a gay bar in Montreal many years ago before he moved to NYC where he trained at the then 19th Street Gym with bf Brian. I am so sorry for Brian and for his family in Quebec. What a great loss. Two popular gay men loss within 2 days …the other being Arpad Mikos (aka Peter Kosma) died sunday.
    RIP Christian.

My heart goes out to all that new Karim. I only knew him through his professional life yet he was a man that I would have loved to have had as a friend. His smile was mesmerizing and enveloped you into his heart. Karim will deeply be missed. I pray for all whose life he touched as they will miss him more deeply.

Rest In Peace My Good Buddy!!! As The “GODS” are waiting for you to take your place at there table…Until me meet again in another life Mine was so much better off knowing YOU and all the Good Times we shared together years back.
Hard to believe 16 yrs November 1997 when we first met. You totally blew my mind and that laugh that you had with that big smile, a grin of a kid in a candy store…and how could i ever forget Steel Gym…you helping me out in my workouts…and the handicap shower….like 2 little kids hiding from peering eyes and the adults and who was where…you made me laugh so hard and what more if that you too were so hardly filled with that same laughter….
pool parties in brooklyn, and going into the bathroom and loosing everyone and hanging out….for those 15 20 minutes…talking about life, and so many other things…as well…but that is for us to know and for me to keep in my heart of hearts…then My annual Christmas Party where the boyz coming marching up the stairs and hearing your voice and like the wooden soldiers…heavy boot steps and the door swinging open and you standing so tall and handsome and that big smile and me beaming to see you. Those are some of the memories that I will hold dear to my heart. The private moments will be that and stay that…as somethings are not to be shared in life and now in death they will be locked away for me and only me to know about. I pray to God that the angels led you into paradise and take your rightful place…as you deserve it…for now I say not Good Bye
but Good Night Handsome–sleep well and till We shall see each other you will be MISSED and TRULY REMEMBERED…Thanks for brightening my life and allowing me the HONOR of Calling YOU –”MY FRIEND” GOD SPEED AND MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE….LOVE DONNIE RUSSO, FEB 6TH 2013 BROOKLYN NEW YORK 10:46 am
