RIP: Arpad Miklos

Word quickly began spreading this morning via social networking sites, and I am sorry to pass along the crushing news that erotic icon Arpad Miklos, 45, has died of an apparent suicide. Publicist Howard Bragman made the announcement via his YouTube channel in an interview with a friend of Mr. Miklos. I was at rehearsal this morning with director Jerry Douglas when photographer Mocha called with the news; Mr. Douglas directed Miklos in BUCKLEROOS, and expressed his admiration for the brawny musclegod’s gentle nature and generous spirit. The Hungarian native, whose birth name was Peter Kozma, originally trained as a chemist, and had a storied career in adult stretching all the way back to VAMPIRE OF BUDAPEST and HUNGARY FOR MEN in 1995-96 (as Francois Kagylo) for Kristen Bjorn. He soon became a familiar face onscreen in dozens of films and, in recent years, webisodes; many of them are quite good, but often he was the sole standout with his furry, muscular physique, towering frame and twinkly smile. It is impossible to make an assessment of the past two decades of all-male adult without including him; when my editors at Bruno Gmuender first asked for a ranking of names to be included in Gay Porn Heroes, his was at the top. He was a popular, award-winning escort and a regular presence on the social circuit. Even after nearly two decades in blue movies, his prominence is such that Hot House Video recently put out a best-of compilation. Last year, Mr. Miklos appeared in the lovely, haunting music video “Hood” for the artist Perfume Genius, which has now become a tribute to his memory. And I quite like the photo at left, which was taken at the International Escort Awards in March 2010. That smile is how I will remember him. Safe travels, Peter. This is too sad! Great performer. Arpad Miklos had a long and successful career in the business. Enjoyed his work. He will be greatly missed in the business. May He Rest in Peace…
“Crushing” is the right word to describe this news. I could have gone the rest of my life without hearing this. I am a huge fan and of all the porn studs out there, Arpad is the LAST I would have expected to hear such terrible news about.

I am brokenhearted for him. I am an ex porn star who tried to commit suicide myself so I can really feel his pain. So so sad. RIP

I am terrible sorry to hear this. Francois had been my favorite for so very long now, it feels like a friend rather than a stranger has died. He always came across as so down-to-earth, intelligent, sweet-natured and level-headed that the shock of it being suicide is even greater. How I wish he’d held out for the light to return, but I am glad his percieved suffering has ended. Au revoir, Arpad.
I am sorry for this guy and others who have committed suicide. but for god sakes i ve been in this business for over 30 years and i never ever heard of this cyber bulling. and for anyone to take this serious enough to take ones life…man they should not be in this business. We never had this kind of bullshit that is being said about models and camera men knocking someone down…for what reason??? In my days we all hung out together and yea there was joking and crap that but nothing to commit suicide over…and i would damn if i would give anyone the satisfaction of me taking my life and for them to feel that they have the power to do that..fuck that man..stay around and show them that your a bigger person then them. In all my years in front of the camera and behind with my own company and website i never came across this kind of hate. And i hope that there are those who don’t like me and don’t like my films..as i don’t want everyone liking me as i don’t like everyone i meet either. its life man and its too damn short and in this business these guys come and go faster in this business. Hot today and gone tomorrow as there is always someone bigger and better coming up behind you. I learned along time ago that to market one self and to do what one needs to do to keep your name in this business. And not to get involve with the fuck n drug scene and be your own man.
